Hey, I'm Rob

I left everything two days before Thanksgiving 2025.

I am a father and a son - another person existing on this planet. I'm also a recovering addict and a trauma-therapy patient. My life has been way down low and up so high it was hard to breathe. Through all of it, I have found my way to a place of serenity I had only read about.

The Jungian journey of individuation, EMDR therapy, and my personal recovery combined to open my consciousness to the places Dr. Jung described and explored. liquidirony is an attempt to document my life and the extraordinary path of individualization as it continues to unfold. Sit back and enjoy. This stuff is crazy.

Be Who You Are

What makes you feel accomplished? What fills you with a feeling of success in a day? Are they the same things you are working and fighting to get while being terrified of not achieving? When the day came that I realized my success as a person was being measured by things I didn’t think were important I was free. I was free to decide if I wanted to continue down the same path I had been on or try this new one that found me. You have the same choice. If you want it.

live your life

We have one opportunity to be alive. I’m alive right now and so are you. What are we going to do with that knowledge? Go to another day of work, at a job we don’t care about, to buy things we don’t think are important, to impress people we aren’t that attached to anyway. If I’m only getting these things so you think I’m successful what things do I need to get to make myself feel successful? Maybe I already have everything I need and define success much differently than others.

a little backstory

Hi, I’m Rob alcholic/addict/man/boy/father/son/teacher/student…
It’s not easy to explain where I’ve been and how I got here, but I’m going to try. Around 1995 I started down a dark path that would engulf the next three decades. There were amazing moments too like graduating high school, the birth of my son, buying a house, and getting married. Those were some of the ways my life seemed to be advancing and thriving along with everyone around me, but with the darkness came an isolated certainty that something was out of place. Something inside wasn’t sitting right and balance would never be possible. Fast forward to 2025 when things started to make some sense and the picture was less blurry. As it cleared up I could start to see the unbalanced scales, the turmoil and flames. Deep breathing and meditation fueled the understanding and clarity that crawled through the next several months as Dr. Jung led my journey.
The end of 2025 is when the opportunity came to fully embrace this new path and the sight of it was terrifying. People with more experience have shared that these moments usually appear as our worst fears and most can’t walk through them. I don’t know where I got the stupidity, strength, or courage, but I grabbed on tight to my opportunity and haven’t let go. It’s been a couple of months since I left and started living this journey and I can not imagine my life any other way. If any of this sounds familiar please follow along and contact me. We are not alone on our paths and we can see each other.

The image on the left is outside of a Goodwill in South Carolina. It’s a painting someone made that had the spirit of where I was headed. Their life was spent creating this painting that I ended up forgetting at one of the places I stayed along my journey. Like everything in life I don’t own any of it and as it passes I can let go or be dragged. The image on the right was near Lancaster, PA in a place called Manheim. I went to that park a few days in a row, but that one was my last and it felt like it at the time. The sky gave me that smile as I was leaving and I had to put the car back in park to get out to take that picture. The memory I have of it and the feelings that were there are still available to me. Life doesn’t pass and leave; it passes and leaves memories that we carry with us. Sticking my feet in any place in my life and trying to stay there will always bring anguish and misery. Understanding that all of it is just visiting allows for such a deeper and more meaningful experience with each moment. Carl Jung saw all this and wrote and taught and explained. He left the steps for us to follow. How to vibrate on a plane of individual capacity and realization. Join us on the path Dr. Jung left for us to follow and live the life you know was meant for you.
